Run for Congo Women

Is a grassroots run, walk, bike, swim, bake or pray fundraiser for Women for Women International’s Congo Program. In only one year, it has blossomed into a global movement with a very simple message:

“Congolese lives matter”. The lives of Congolese women are significant. The lives of Congolese children are precious. They have waited far too long. They are worth our effort. We are running to help.

The GRHP was established in 1999 in response to the atrocities being committed on the population of Bukavu during the “war of liberation” of 1996. As a result of the war many people were displaced for the security. Access to medical care was severely compromised and the death rate among the population, specifically the maternal death rate rose sharply. Pregnant women had the choice of either walking 8km north to the nearest medical center or laboring and delivering at home. As well transport was highly unsafe in this area and women or their infants needing urgent care could not reach the medical center in time.

We promote “A” Game Artists this means the artists in our network have a track record of wrecking an audience, and picking up their standing ovation, then going home. Our artists leave it ALL on the stage.

When you broadcast to over 110 million people worldwide, this is what is demanded.

After two major accomplisment in my education endeavors, my Bachelors in Music Education and Masters of Arts I decided to join the Navy in 1973. Little did I know that I would end up becoming a full time musician in the US Navy Music Program. Thirty-One years later and having been around the world 3 times performing over 5,000 concerts I retired in San Diego, California. A little R&R never hurt anyone! But, that was not enough for me.. I started composing Tropical music and borrowing from my 5 generations of musicians in my family I started creating great spicy Salsa, Merengues, Cumbias, Bachatas and Romantic Music. Since my retirement in 2004 I have produced 2 CDs, a Salsa/Merengue and a Romantic Salsa one. My gosh! I have sold over 6,000 copies! San Diego knows who Manny Cepeda is and everyone is saying “Man, your music sounds like the one I hear in the radio everyday!” This is when I decided to go into “Our Stage” what a better place to let you decide if this comment was true or not. Well, of the two songs I posted one is up to #28 and rising. I have been called an anomaly because I can write my lyrics, write the music and make the musical arrangement. A one man stop shop! I’ll let you be the judge. If you get a chance to hear my music and judge it, go for it!! I would really appreciate your support!
